Friday night was the opening reception for Morpho Gallery’s 5th Annual Emerging Artist Winter Exhibits. The gallery looked warm and inviting on this cold winter night.

Barra de Navidad
I was pleased to exhibit my paintings of Barra De Navidad, including Bougainvillea Garden in Mexico. I have often combined my love of travel with painting, but few places are as beautiful and hospitable as Barra de Navidad. Barra is a coastal village on the western shore of Mexico where the small local population mingles with tourists and artists. One winter I fled the Chicago cold and stayed in Barra for a month, where I rented a cottage right on the beach. Every morning I would have fresh papayas for breakfast while looking out at my beachfront garden, which inspired this painting.

I was glad my brother Ted and his wife, DeLacy could be at the reception. Ted directs an actor’s studio, so I guess creativity runs in the family.

Emilie Bouvet-Boisclair ‘s painting, Savannah, is both intriguing and disturbing.
The reception was still going strong when I left.
There were many other beautiful works of art, and I hope you come and visit. This exhibit continues until February 15th. I’ll be displaying two of my still life paintings at the exhibit running from Friday, March 11th until March 23.
