Fine Art Cityscape Photos of the University of Chicago

My paintings and photos are inspired by observing Chicago scenes.  My neighborhood, Hyde Park, stands out for its richness of vintage architecture. I want to make the public more aware of these architectural beauties through my paintings and photographs, particularly the Gothic architecture of the University of Chicago campus.  I am displaying my digital fine art photos, Waterspout on Bond Chapel, and Cobb Hall Lamp with Red and Green Ivy.

In preparation for my cityscape paintings, I’ve taken reference photographs of architectural details.   I am presenting them as part of my body of work because they can reinforce the awareness of this architecture.  I have manipulated these photographs digitally to reduce the color gradation and accentuate some colors, all to bring out the Gothic details in stark and colorful presentation.  This allows the public to see and relate more readily to the essentials of the Gothic architectural order that existsin Hyde Park.

Opening Reception

The opening reception is Saturday, September 10, 9 am til Noon.  CornerStone Art Center & Gallery is in downtown Whiting, Indiana, 20 minutes from downtown Chicago, and is open during bank hours.  Hope you come and visit.
