Description of Calumet Fisheries

This photograph is a digitally altered view of the Calumet Fisheries. It’s one of the last wood-smoked seafood restaurants in Illinois and considered an American classic. Located in the shadow of the old steel mills, it is a South Side icon. For three days in the summer of 1979, Calumet Fisheries hosted the movie crew from The Blues Brothers. Remember Jake and Elwood jumping a bridge in the Bluesmobile? That was the 95th Street bridge, where Calumet Fisheries is located.

This digital art is from my series, Steel Giants Of The Heartland. Transformation Is true of this region on a symbolic level as being my artistic media. The vibrant colors in my photos represent the vital role this industrial hub played in developing the Calumet region.

My digital art is printed on enhanced matte, archival paper. It is shipped well-protected in a sturdy cardboard tube.
