Organic Creatures Going To The Beach

I am very pleased that my abstract art, Organic Creatures Going To The Beach, is in the Abstract Art Exhibition this month in the Light, Space & Time Online Gallery.  My painting received a Special Recognition award.  It is part of a series of whimsical, abstract paintings with soft colors separated by strong, vertical, brown lines, suggesting a strange family of beings on an outing.  Oil on canvas painting, W 36 X  H 24 inches high.  For sale at $400. On display at Paul Henry’s Art Gallery in downtown Hammond, Indiana.

I have been participating in the Light, Space & Time Online Gallery since I first noticed the call for artists over a year ago, as I appreciate the quality of the art that is posted there by curator, John R. Math.  It is good to have my art in the company of so many talented artists.  Previous exhibits are archived on the gallery website.

Honorable Mention: Young Lady With Long Pipe

This June I was honored that my abstract figurative painting, Young Lady With Long Pipe, won Honorable Mention in the international Figurative Art Exhibition, Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery.  This award placed my painting in the top ten among entries from 216 artists from 19 countries around the world.

This artwork displays a stylized approach to representational art that combines elements of an abstract painting superimposed over realistic objects.  Previously in a curated exhibit at Rogers Park ArtWalk in Chicago, it is now on exhibit at Paul Henry’s Art Gallery in Indiana. Oil on canvas painting, H 15 X W 20 inches, For sale at $300.

Lakeside City, Special Recognition: CityScapes Art Exhibition – April 2012

This painting was also on display for Rogers Park ArtWalk, a curated group exhibit for Chicago Artists Month, November, 2011.  Oil on canvas painting, H 15 X W 30 inches, For sale at $400.

Dawn Twilight, The Sun, The Moon, The Stars, Special Recognition: The Elements  Exhibition November, 2011

This artwork continues my stylized approach to combining abstract and realistic art. The painting is based on my memories of traveling in the High Sierra Mountains.  My paintings, in general, use a strong interplay and harmony of colors. I often use strong heavy lines, and an extreme gradation from light to dark color values.  Although my painting process uses techniques of realism (lighting, perspective, modeling), the paint application creates a contemporary feel to the finished work (flattened objects, textures, partial overlays of color,  and strong shapes on flat backgrounds).  Oil on canvas painting, W 108 X H 24 inches. For sale: $2,000.  The painting was also displayed at Paul Henry’s Art Gallery in downtown Hammond, Indiana, which represents my art.
